Aloha Joe on Mauna Kea's Summit!
Today I had the distinct privilege and honor
to summit the tallest mountain in the world.
It is known as Mauna Kea
and is on the Big Island of Hawaii.
The summit is 13,796 feet above sea level.
From the base of the mountain to the top is 33,500 feet,
making it three times as tall as Mount Everest.
There are now thirteen telescopes on Mauna Kea
operated by eleven different countries.
